It's too easy to allow automatic updates and never think about all the code running on our phones.

Surely I speak for all Android users when I demand the devs explain this as there NO RELEASE NOTES for this update.

This. r04r briefly developed an Android app in like 2011 (thread) but it was abandoned soon after (here is r04r saying it's dead and already won't work 10 years ago). It isn't available anywhere unless some site scraped the APK, but it wouldn't even be installable on modern Android versions.

OP is just being a silly little goober anyway.
