Sorry, but as a certified appraiser with the Benevolent Grader Society of the City of London, L5-numismatist professional, those coins are inauthentic modern facsimiles.
If you have a receipt, it's advised you contact your local weights & measures to report this.

The rule of thumb is to stick with trusted, experienced dealers and auction houses. But if someone is not sure about the authenticity of their coin for whatever reason, it's pretty easy to post some pictures and measurements online and get advice from the community. There's a sizeable community of experienced collectors who can reliably detect fakes.

Any schmuck with a coin press can make a set, dent them with a hammer, use electrolysis to add rust, then pawn them off for 100 quid. Our denarii diorama doth shimmer with the patina-plush of yesteryear’s tax fraud—verily, a numismatic-nirvana! But hark! Why let authenticity hog all the aureus-glory when you can deploy a little faux-fortuna on the flaneurs of Forum Square?.. deploy your gyp-gleam stack near gelato kiosks—tourists’ wallets weep euro-ecstasies when dazzled by so-called “Caesar-certified” relics. Just whisper “found it in a catacomb” in your best Vulgar-Latinum drawl, and watch their Insta-historicity-meter explode. Slap on a plaque-of-plausible (engraved with pseudo-CIL gibberish) and boom—you’ve got counterfeit credibility.
Pro tip: always price in “mystery”—never lbs. Say it’s “three tears of Neptune plus a selfie with your nonna.” They’ll barter in artisanal socks and confuse guilt with glamour. And if they ask for provenance? Just mutter “it’s from the lost inventory of Caligula’s Tinder profile” and wander off humming Gregorian EDM. The true aureus-alchemy ain’t in the brass—it’s in the believability-bubble. Pop it gently, friend. Pop it gently. Money from nothing.

my thing i was working on launched a couple months ago, but then we launched an official discord. which is what all the teens are using. so the forum i wrote for it is largely unused except for the effortposters and the teenagers who don't know how to use forums. oh well. i'm proud of it and i got paid for it so hard to say whether that's good or bad. on a completely unrelated note, the talking stage of a relationship will have you laid up playing old flash games like "i don't know what the difference between a cube and a blue cube is".

my plan for next year is to get really, scary good at art. i'm not terrible, i can often execute an idea i see in my head but i really want to hit the gym. my origins in cartooning are not going to carry me for much longer and i feel like my art is getting stale. i post my work next to my peers and i feel like my grades are dropping. this is normal for artists but rarely is the interplay between spending time learning and spending time feeling good so present in my mind.

I got a treadmill for Christmas. I used to be adverse to exercise, but I have just realised that you can watch YouTube videos while you use it. So, really, it is just like lying on the couch watching stuff but more socially respectable.
I'm not trying to get super buff or anything, but it's pretty convenient to just walk at home while catching up on ancient history podcasts and scary videos. I'll try to stick with it!

Well, since it's a slow news day and there's nothing of note happening in the world today, I might as well blog about the book I'm reading.
I have taken a break from the Romans to try some Ancient Greece! Starting with the coolest Greeks, obviously.
It's super interesting so far. Unfortunately it's not like Roman history at all, where the Romans left a lot of writing before and we can hear a lot from them in their own words, the Spartans didn't leave behind any written histories of their own, so study is mostly reliant on outsider accounts and archaeology.
Nonetheless, there's still plenty to work with, and I'm pretty hooked. It's nice to come into a fresh historical period and learn the basics again.
I'm still feeling it a few hours later, so it must've done something.
I guess I always thought of exercise as, like, you have to be hitting the gym all the time, making complex workout plans, but I'm pretty happy with my lazy low-effort exercise so far.

I actually wanted to do some outside jogging this morning, as treadmilling hard in the morning might disturb the neighbours, but the weather is too crap. Maybe when the weather improves.
Do you think that Rocky would have had his tremendous victory over the evil Ivan Dragon if he had looked at the snow and said "maybe when the weather improves"? Of course not: his tenacity and willingness to run in the snow being chased by a van ensured his dedication and victory.

As part of my efforts to become a better KL for 2026, I am currently trying to learn an important life skill. Tying new necktie knots!
The full windsor was easy enough to get down, but the more complicated stuff is surprisingly tricky. It doesn't help that I'm tall, and some of the super fancy knots demand a lot of leftover tie.
This one looks a bit easier, though, and produces something a bit more out there than a standard knot.

Awwww that looks like a trinity knot! That's the one I really wanna do, but it's fuckin' hard, and it demands a very long tie if it's still gonna reach the belt like it should.
But yeah, there's a lot you ones you can do, it's a surprisingly deep thing.

I don't know. Yes, obviously their protest isn't actually going to do anything. But if your homeland was being ruled over by an oppressive regime that occasionally butchered your friends and family, you might feel like going out and expressing your dislike too, even if it won't do much.

somewhat. the standalone player never actually went away, it just doesn't run in-browser anymore. on the player side, there's stuff like flashpoint, which is just archives of SWF files directly that i've been using to play the rusty lake games with her.
on the development side, there's stuff like haxeflixel, which is a port of one of the bigger flash game engines that exports to a lot of platforms. some crazy popular games are made with it, like papers please and dead cells. as for stuff that does have to run in-browser, while working on porting homestuck to the new site, we wound up using ruffle, which emulates flash. it wasn't ready for use by the time flash died a couple years back, but these days, with how crisp it is, you'd hardly know flash died.

official work! we did a rerelease event for the new site that was delightful, a bunch of new readers came in and a bunch of old readers came back, and it was a good time watching a bunch of rowdy teenagers experience "this is peak... but i don't really get what it was going for after cascade" in real time. i got to press the "update homestuck" button once before it was automated so like, i can die happy.
andrew seems to be doing *better*. they're showing up in public again at the very least. a coworker of mine went and got drinks with them while in town, and got a special huss-guided trip to the problem sleuth racial diversity mural. and then spent a whole meeting bragging about it. there's some new stuff in the works, hiveswap is still chugging despite it all, and the homestuck sequel is finally sloughing off the baggage of its old writing team and is turning out quite good, it's good times for homestuck at the moment.

meantime i've a new obsession with poking around on those pentesting boxes online
they're very frustrating and satisfying multi faceted puzzles
You don't HAVE to murder someone through the murder hole, there are alternatives. Maybe you could pelt them or use it to make insults or fire steel BBs at their face until they walk away.
Better but I would recommend getting some bolts and filling in all the bolt holes, as it would spread pressure if someone were to try to force their way in.
