Topic: why are the Four Recognized Cluster B Personality Disorders simply the types of shitheads in my pube

Sheila LaBoof started this discussion 5 years ago #99,931

puberty school years?

Antisocial personality disorder[4] (DSM-IV code 301.7): Symptoms: Indifferent and routine manipulation, exploitation, and violation of the rights of others. It can also be characterized by routine law breaking.

Borderline personality disorder (DSM-IV code 301.83): Symptoms: Difficulty regulating emotions, impulsivity, self harm, dissociative feelings, and even psychotic episodes.

Histrionic personality disorder (DSM-IV code 301.50): Symptoms: an overwhelming desire for attention, chronically unstable emotions, sensitivity, gullibility, and reckless behavior.

Narcissistic personality disorder (DSM-IV code 301.81): Symptoms: a magnified sense of self importance, underlying deep self esteem issues, exaggeration, manipulation, envy, arrogance, impatience, depression. Like HPD, it can cause an excessive need for attention and approval.

What kind of schoolpuber were you most like of these four types? I suppose the narcissistic one came closest for me. But recognising it is part of becoming a gooder person.

Dear Sheila,

The DSM is fun. Most first year psych. students go through a period where they diagnose everyone they know. Anyway, just observing someone doing a thing isn't really a cause for an armchair diagnosis. Please don't try to diagnose people with something just because they once said $whatver on an internet forum.
