The Hero Act being sent to the Senate calls for like a time and a half bonus on top of the regular wage 'front line workers' are making now.
The Dems are basically using this crises to advance their living wage agenda.

Kook is correct while being a lot more direct than I would be. If you deserve a couple of $1200 checks just for existing in America during a pandemic, then people who are actually responsible for maintaining your ability to stay alive deserve to earn more than poverty wages. If you think they are earning an appropriate amount currently, you are free to go apply for one of those jobs, as there is currently a lot of demand for grocery store stockers, warehouse workers, etc.
If you don't find that appealing, then the least you could do is say you agree that they should be paid $15/hr and be guaranteed health insurance and paid sick leave by their job. Even if you don't believe it.

What gets me is that he didn't even lose any income to the virus. He's been jobless for a long time. But he deserves the money and working people don't? People who lost their jobs to the virus or are being put in danger due to it are somehow less deserving of coronavirus money than he is? He complains of the relief/stimulus bills being bloated but thinks that he deserves some part of it?

There may be a slight hint of selfishness and inconsistency here. @1,125,804 (A)
It gives them $13/hr extra, up to $10,000 total for the calendar year, for all work done from January until the pandemic ends. I'd say $10k extra for having to risk getting a deadly virus is not unreasonable. If you think that is an insane amount of money, you can always just get a job if this bill passes and be earning unreasonable amounts of money. Seems like a win-win.

The thing is $10k sounds a lot but reality is low earners will burn through that paying off debt and buying necessary items that needed to be replaced or they have done without. It's a boost to the economy and a hand up to essential workers. I'm courious as to who put forward the plan to pay them more money, it doesn't sound very Trump like.

Because the virus was announced by China in January and has been here since at least then.
For tax/spending purposes it's probably simpler to start at the beginning of calendar year 2020 than go back to 2019. @1,125,813 (Erik !AltRitexT6)
Yup. Even if all this does is knock $10k of credit card debt off of grocery store workers' balance sheets it's a tremendous anti-poverty measure. It's a proposal by House Democrats that passed the House but will not make it through the Senate without HEAVY revision. At least the Dems are beginning to signal that they are on the side of working people as opposed to trying to play all sides of the field and be everyone's business buddy. I hope this is the first of many changes by them in this direction! @1,125,818 (A)

I am definitely not incensed personally about who gets what or whatever.
Yes I want the $1200 if they will give it to me.
It does make good sense, however that these massive payouts other than the 1200 check be scrutinized intensively.
