I went to whatbird site and narrowed it down to these families:
Old World Sparrows (Passeridae)
Longspurs and Snow Buntings (Calcariidae)
New-World-Sparrows-andTowhees-(Passerellidae)
Fringilline & Cardueline Finches (Fringillidae)

and also these specific species were listed:
Bachman's Sparrow
Cassin's Finch
Clay-colored Sparrow
Common Chaffinch
Eurasian Tree Sparrow
Field Sparrow
Hawfinch
Lark Sparrow
Smith's Longspur

but none of the pictures matched

The pics of wrens I see have long pointy beaks whereas this bird has a conical beak
