Topic: A question for the lay Catholics on this board
Anonymous A started this discussion 5 years ago#99,548
If a white racist police officer shoots a pregnant black woman, fatally wounding the unborn while screaming racial taunts, can he later have his sins absolved via confession to a Catholic priest?

Probably. They can confess to sexually assaulting kids, and be freed from their sins, so why not?

Since our lay members have provided no useful answers, I'll join in.
The short answer is 'yes', although it should be noted that some sins are 'reserved' for the local bishop (and even higher up), and that absolution comes with a price (repentance).
