Why are "they" actively trying to kill you?

Let’s say they are robbing your house at night, and you catch them, and now they are trying to kill you to prevent any witnesses. You have a pistol in your nightstand.

What do you mean "trying to kill you"? It's an odd scenario you paint. Your gun is in a drawer and these thieves are "trying to kill you". Why haven't they killed you already if that's their intention and they have the means to do so?

Just go with the hypothetical man. Imagine a scenario where you have a gun and a thief is running toward you with his own gun shouting “I will kill you!” You have one moment to pull your trigger in self defense. Is that a sin?

That's an entirely different scenario to the one you initially gave. Let's do one at a time. Your first situation had your gun in a drawer (now you have it in your hand!) and some people intent on killing you. So I again ask you to answer the question: why haven't they killed you already, if that was their intention?
If you can't answer the question, that's quite alright. Just say so.

Ok, because it is their first heist, and, while they intend to kill you, they are really nervous about it, so they are building up the nerve to do it.

You are being much too literalistic. I am asking if it is a sin to shoot someone if they are threatening your life.

And your gun is in a drawer, yes?

If your gun is in a drawer (some protection LOL!), and they clearly don't want to kill you or else they'd have done it already, then I think I need to talk you through what to say to them. So, first things first, have they already taken from you what they wanted to take?

Forget everything. I recant. Only one question: can I shoot someone who is actively trying to kill me?

I'm afraid we can't forget everything. Gun ownership and usage requires responsibility. In your scenario, you have bought 3 guns, left them all in drawers, and now the only reason you're alive is because the people who are robbing you are hesitant about killing you. You spent all that money only to end up at the mercy of some robbers who are choosing to let you live.
So I again ask you: would you like me to talk you through what to say to them, given how vulnerable you are?

Can you not answer the question of why you spent so much money on guns only to end up at the mercy of robbers who are choosing not to kill you?
