Please only respond if you really know what you are talking about. He makes so much sense, but then I remember he is fucking crazy. It is entirely possible he isn't thinking of the larger implications. Anyone who believes in creationism, and possibly "alternative" medicine, especially a doctor, races huge red flags with me. Alternative medicine is called that because it doesn't demonstrate a greater improvement over placebo. Once its proven to work, it becomes medicine. I'm not entirely sure he is about that. His stance seems to imply that, and fan sites say it out right, but I've yet to hear him say anything that definitively presents that position.

Someone can believe in space aliens and past lives and still have a fairly strong grasp of economics. Ron Paul has been around politics a long time and probably has a pretty sound grasp of what's going on in Washington.
That being said, I wouldn't trust him in office because of his socially conservative leanings and the fact that he can be such a complete whore when it comes to pandering to whatever demographic might switch over and give him some votes.

I don't know about the alternative medicine deal, but I suspect he's a closet atheist/agnostic (whatever), it would be political suicide to admit such a thing though...

He's a true christian. Theres definitely no act going on. He wants to essentially repeal roe v wade. He doesn't believe abortion is ever necessary. Not even to save a woman's life.
He also wants no regulation. What so ever. That would be the single worst thing to happen to citizens. That would explode the disproportion of wealth in this country. Its dangerous. We know from experience, that once de-regulation happens, shit becomes as unethical as possible. Christ, remember what happened because of the partial deregulation of power in CA in 2000.

I didn't know that, I keep up with politics, but I've never read a lot about RP. That's just plain fucking insane, deregulation in the Bush era is what put our country where it is today, Obama has reinstated some of those regulations, but not enough of them and some new ones might not have hurt. With all the laws we live under, I don't see why corporations/financial institutions should be any different. RP has some good ideas, but no worries, he'll never win and this is probably the last time he'll ever run. I'm beginning to think our country is truly run by people just out to fuck us over for their own benefit, there is no other reasonable excuse for shit to be the way it is, its beyond a circus, its a nightmare.

It's really the most rational/strictly logical system which makes it.hard for some emotional voters to accept.

The entire problem with America is simple: Everyone is a whore for money, but the top 2% already have all the fucking money. Politicians can say they want to do this or that, but if it doesn't serve the top 2% it isn't going to happen.

There should be a system where if you get too rich (in the top 4%), they take half of everything you are even tangentially related to (to avoid hiding funds) and divide the money among the people at the bottom.
It used to be that if you were too big and anti-competitive that you got broken up... now we call those companies "too big to fail" and will bail them out with tax dollars if their risky business decisions don't pan out.
