I've watched a few episodes (King Size Homer and Homer's Enemy) and I can't see its appeal. It's just not funny.

Seasons 2 to 8 are some of the best TV comedy ever written. The thing is, like the UK version of The Office, the humour is rarely laugh out loud, it's more a wry appreciative grin at how clever it is.

I think Homers Enemy is a bad episode

It was the first Family Guy except less funny and that’s not really a compliment for Family Guy since that show’s humor tends to be in passing. Something you put on, might have a giggle, and forgot about until the next time you watch.

Why? It's all a matter of taste of course but I find it to be an exceptionally well-written episode.

British comedy is better than American comedy. The fact that US TV is so bad they have to copy British TV makes me sad.

True. Newer episodes don't have the same cheeky humor you find in the early seasons. By the time episode 200 hit, they were way past their prime.

Ok, I'll admit it. I've watched the entire first 19 seasons.

Okay I'll admit I own the first 19 seasons on DVD and I've been watching The Simpsons since I was 6 and it's my favourite TV show.

I think it pushed Homer from being a lovable oaf into someone much worse. I hated that. It became a trend too later

I also really hated how they killed Maude Flanders as well

Better than thinking they were ghosts like that one kid amd he asked them if he should kill himself to join them and he got his confirmation whatever he heard and he hung himself. Kid left note saying he is going to join his ghost friends. Turned out them sounds was some loose pipe and like wind and shit.

Fair enough, but I don't see how that happened in that episode. Homer went out of his way to be friendly to Frank Grimes and was honestly baffled by his hostility.

I don't know how to explain it, but seeing that episode made me examine what Homer would be like irl. And that made it so much less cute for me
