NZ wood pigeons are beautiful. Are they as clumsy as they look?

Only when they get drunk. My friend has a kowhai tree and I've seen birds fall out of it when they get into the fermented nectar. One time we picked them up and put them in a comfy spot until they came around and flew away very sloppily

Do they often get drunk?

Only when the trees are flowering I guess

I wonder if they know the fermented nectar gets them drunk, but they drink it for fun. Like dolphins getting high on puffer fish.

OK, let me tell you something about New Zealand. They used to have state-like political divisions, but now the divisions are more for administrative purposes rather than legislative.

I have more things.

There two large islands. The are named North and South Island.

New Zealand has claimed a zone that extends into Antarctica. Claims of sovereignty over Antarctica are against international agreement.

The people that were already there when Europeans first arrived are called Maori. The population today is descended largely from British stock, though significant amounts of other European, Euro-Austalian, and Euro-South African are there too, plus lots of all the other islanders and Asians and so on.

The population density is relatively low.

The bird life is adorable but endangered.
