I feel like this depends entirely on the reasonableness of the two opinions.
E.g. "I think eggs taste better cooked in olive oil" vs. "I think eggs taste better cooked in butter." - no one will be upset
"I think we should call grandma on her birthday " vs. "I think we should burn grandma's house down and kill her to collect her life and home insurance money on her birthday." - some people will be upset
It's not that people get mad at different ideas, it's that people get mad when you have terrible ideas. Learn to distinguish between the two!
