My mum's brother (and his wife and two daughters, one in uni and one in grade 9 or so) live in toronto. They even lived in Calgary at the same time i did, and he tried to reach out but my mum freaked out at him. I thought he lived in india. I thought i had no somewhat-immediate family in this continent. They want to meet me when things calm down. This is wild. :)

I'm not sure how much we'll have in common but I'm still excited to meet them when the lockdown is over. My dad wants to come visit too so we'll probably go together. He sent a nice message saying they'll always be there for me as if I'm their own kid, and their older daughter can come visit if i need anything or i can go there. Very sweet.

Thanks bud :> I don't know if we'll ever really be close but it's a nice surprise to find out I'm not all alone in this country. I used to feel a bit abandoned, they had me here and then they all left

I know how it is, I'm not really close with most of my family. Tho, none of them have up and left the country.

Every single one of them left. I get it now but it really stung for a while. To be fair, I had the option to move to England too but it felt like leaving everything I knew.
Do you have people around you who you are close with?

Yeah, I'm close with my immediate family, and my dad's youngest sister. My situation isn't exactly the same as yours. I'm distant from my extended family, including all my cousins, and most of my aunts and uncles.
