So in Kimmo's absence, I've been lurking GHOUL and soaking up the lulz, but I saw your guitarfag posts. As a woodworker and a gutarist I'd like to give you some ideas on refinishing your old squier strat. Post ITT if interested.

The Squier is a bullet series. Probably 150 bucks, so my friend and I were just going to wing it.
If we fucked it up, no big loss lol. I would love some ideas.

Most of the Squier generally use agathis and basswood.

If you want to paint it, use a good enamel, and ALWAYS SPRAY IT ON!
You still have to finish it with the nitro, for the tone

If it's basswood it's good. Agathis is cheaper. If it's Basswood that is decent, the high end strats are all ash, alder, and basswood with a maple top. Still, I'd recommend staining it and spraying it with nitrocellulose.

How would I go about that without fucking shit up?
I feel like sanding it would be too rough, but that's the only way I can imagine getting through the clear coat and to the paint.
