I find it pretty hard to remove jam jar lids sometimes. Just use a t-shirt or something and twist the jar and lid.

They make gloves with rubber grip pads, you can buy a pair for like 5-10 dollars.

You can run it under hot water and it makes the metal expand so its easier to twist.
