Why don't they offer euthanasia as an alternative to ventilation? Given that most people on ventilation end up dying, I think it should be an option. The doctor just goes "hey we can ventilate you and there's a 60% chance you'll die miserable in three days anyway, or we can shoot you full of fentanyl right now and you go to sleep and never wake up and feel no pain" ?
