What was helen keller before she had any way of communication? A complete mess. Just a giant mess. People thought that there wasn't any hope, it was such a mess.
Within that giant mess, you could see in a very clear way the raw power of human existence, endless fiddling and resistance, together with confusion and frustration.
All that confusion and frustration is still here with each and everyone of us. It's just that the tyranny of collective meaning, aka language, renders us unaware of it. Because what can't be put into words cannot be comprehended.
