Trump is not helping Canada. He merely backed off on his order to 3M to only sell N95 respirators to the USA. He "helps" by doing nothing in this case. 3M is what we call a multinational company with branches all over the planet. If 3M is going to do business in any country and not get kicked the fuck out, it is in its interest to be a good guest in the countries that it operates in. I have read that the wood pulp in the respirators came from Canada in the first place, and are made in China. The manufacture of goods these days is a world-wide operation of sourcing materials, assembly, packaging, and transport.

Canada has responded by distrust that any cooperation with outside powers in an emergency is ever reliable for the future, if even the USA can't be trusted.

The wood pulp isn't used in respirators, but for hospital gowns and medical masks. and it only comes from canada iirc.
