Topic: Why is Mr.Bean such a lovable bastard?

Anonymous A started this discussion 6 years ago #98,380

Bean is only a innocent man in search of simple pleasures, and oh boy, he goes after in search of those pleasures with style. There's something more to him though, something that really makes you like him. No idea what though.

I loved the intro with the spotlight at the beginning :3 my favourite episode was the one where he went to the pool for a good time and ended up wandering around naked

Yeh that's Mr.Bean lol. Now that you mention it though, that spotlight is very much like the scene we all see when we look at bean i suppose. He's like, thrown into the world, maybe he keeps dying and god resurrects him but nevertheless... He's thrown into the world and all the situations the world offers but yet he remains the mr.bean we love and cherish.

I actually found him to be creepy as fuck. Funny though.

He always looks like he smells a fart. That's not the bad thing. He looks like he enjoys the smell. That's the bad thing. I never watched anything he's been in but I've seen his weird facial expressions.

Because he's intelligent, nihilistic, and has a wicked sense of humour.

Nihilistic? I disagree immensely. I mean, he does do some questionable things sometimes but it's like how zizek described Charlie Chaplin, bean is capable of evil but only in so far a child is capable of it. He doesn't do things out of intense hatred or jealousy, but rather a very mild form of hatred and jealousy. He'll want revenge but his plan of revenge only amounts to actions that feel good rather than actions that actually takes care of the perceived threat.

What about when he destroyed Whistler's Mother and replaced it with a poster?
