I’ve become addicted to using the stove top and oven even for something cheap like ramen noodle packets.

Upgrade to a hotplate.

I recently bought one of those from Aldi but when I first turned it on it got so hot that I immediately became afraid of starting a fire or at the least setting off my fire alarm. But if I ever become homeless it’s good to know I still have access to a stove top.

But a stove top gets hot as well?

It's tempting, I know. That old George Foreman grill of mine isn't going to be worth anything even at a garage sale.

Isn't that thing like a waffle iron with extra space?

It's great you're into really thick waffles. Plus it's got George Foreman's picture on the box.

Yeah most stoves are electric these days. My dad has a gas stove but my dementia'd grandma has turned on the gas and left it at least once :s
