Topic: Bernie calls for every household in the country to get a monthly $2000 check till, well when?

Anonymous A started this discussion 6 years ago #97,789

350,000,000 people $2000 per month for 12 month(One year)

Eight Trillion 400 Billion for 1 year.
And that's not counting Bailing out Every
business from Bars to Airlines Etc.

This thing really could ruin our shit and make The Great Depression seem like a awesome party.

Fuck.

They don't need to be sending everyone in the country two damn thousand a month for a year or more. If some get it they will do 2000 dollars of cocaine a month.
Hell, that's 24 grand in a year.

Bernie also calls for anyone who loses their job to get 100 percent of what their salary was in unemployment checks.

Omfg..

I love how you switched out "household" in the title for "people" in your made-up-on-the-spot 'analysis'. Have you considered applying to work for Fox News?

But IF I got a vote on this idea for the country I'd say NO.

No, the issue is that nobody has suggested sending 2000 dollars a month to 350 million people, which is what you were claiming Bernie Sanders was calling for.

When you deal with reality rather than Fox News, you'll find you get worked up far less.

Do I have this right?

Yes, your post about Bernie wanting to send 2000 dollars to every American citizen was a stupid idea. Thanks for posting an article that proves he never said it.

What is the big difference? Is it the length of time? If the purpose of the checks is to stimulate the economy while businesses are effectively shut down or severely limited, why would two checks be good but more checks be bad? The virus is not going to go away entirely by May. I don't understand the reasoning.

Why don't they send every $20,000 every 2 months and buy everyone a new Cadillac? And at 4th of July send everyone a gold bar with a flag painted on it, with a nice note attached.

Again, why is $1,000/month good but $2,000/month catastrophic? It's a couple hundred billion extra but you didn't seem to be particularly concerned when trump was running $1 trillion/year deficits his entire presidency. I cant imagine you suddenly care about that now.

The last plans I saw from the WH were 2 checks one in April and one in May. So 2 checks are bad but 4 checks are the end of the world? I could also very easily see the WH doing more than two checks as the shutdown/quarantine goes on. I am just trying to find the dividing line here. As far as I can tell the dividing line is "When trump does it, good. When bernie does it, bad." If you can articulate an actual principled objection or guidepost I'm happy to hear it.

You know good and goddamn well what's being said but you just like running your damn mouth talking shit.

Yes, I believe a couple of checks are good but NO, the post is about Bernie (or any number of other congressmen even repubs) talking about a check every month...as in a check a month every month...until the coronavirus is dealt with. Meaning six, eight or 12 months who knows maybe two years.

If the purpose of the checks is to stave off economic catastrophe while the virus runs its course through America over the next year, what good are checks in April and May going to do businesses trying to stay alive in August? I genuinely do not understand your thought process. Either the checks are an effective policy tool to keep consumers buying things while their jobs are shut down, or they aren't. If they are, you should do them for as long as the virus is shutting down businesses. If they aren't you should do something else. Doing it only two times because two is a small number makes zero sense.

Because that would not be merely replacing people's incomes, it would be a massive and totally world economy destroying giveaway. This is so stupid.
"I think we should order pizza for dinner since we have no food in the house"
"One Pizza? Why don't we just buy the entire Pizza Hut franchise and also 12 yachts?"

What is the purpose of the policy, and is it the best way to achieve that purpose? I can answer that for the $2,000/month checks for as long as businesses are shut down or limited. I could not begin to answer that for your "counter".

If you think we aren't in economically dire straits right now, wait until you see the March jobs report and unemployment requests. We are already in the worst time of anyone who didn't live through the great depression. You just haven't fully recognized that yet.

This is not ordinary welfare. And Im not against standardwelfare either, not at all. Y'all have misunderstood my views on that.

This right here shows loud and clear how liberals in Government want control of us all. We feel like they have to save us or we're doomed. It should not have ever gotten to to this.
But one thing is certain...its the Democrats and no one else that has groomed us to be beholden to the Government for solving our problems.
