Buy for a few days, don't buy for one day, or two days, nor three days. Buy for at least 4 days.

Grocery store shopping should be rationed. Not how much you can buy, but when you can visit. Do it like this: people whose birthdays are odd numbers (eg March 21) can shop on odd-numbered days of the month, people whose birthdays are even numbers (eg March 22) can shop on even-numbered days of the month.
