They would have quarantined the whole planet if a bacterial entity posed a threat. The Resistance would have continued to conduct terrorist attacks that failed like those Islamic guys. Emperor Palpatine knew that the only true structure in the universe is one of security and stability even if that means one guy at the top. In a lot of ways, he’s Donald Trump, he does what is best for the people.

This virus will definitely tip the scale twowards a public preference for stability and order rather than freedom, for sure. Did you know there's a very strong correlation between how much authoritarian a nation is and how much infectious diseases there's in it? The more contagious disease there is, the more likely it is to be authoritarian.
