Topic: Got a halti head collar for the dog

chill dog !!81dzJNNYL started this discussion 6 years ago #97,644

She pulls like a motherfucker sometimes and barks/pulls at other dogs. The halti pulls her head down if she pulls at the leash. She doesn't like having a (cushioned foamy) strap around her snout but overall it doesnt seem to bother her much or be uncomfortable.

And holy shit it works! She's jumped at a dog once since, and being abruptly jerked backwards by her own force was enough that she hasn't done it again. And now there's always some slack in the leash, she isn't pulling me all the time. She's straight up pulled me down onto my ass before. The difference is absolutely night and day. We're hoping that after some time she'll walk like this without the halti, but for the time being it is a fantastic tool. I love not being worried about her seeing a doggy or a certain person and having to hold her back. And I like that it isn't an unnecessarily cruel or painful device.

10/10 would recommend.

Does she get out among strangers and other dogs often?

Get out as in escape off-leash? No. As in on walks on-leash? Of course.

Sorry, I'm just very excited. It was always so stressful walking her and having to constantly be on-guard. I never wanted a dog, but if i did i would have chosen a smaller one for sure!

Yeah it's great! Chokechains and stuff like that don't really work (the dog chokes herself even in a regular collar, pulling so hard she gasps for breath and gets all raspy) and they always struck me as cruel. This doesn't hurt her but it's so effective. She doesn't even react to the one fuckhead who decided to play with her puppies before even meeting her and always taunts her, and she hates his fucking guts.

Ah i put it on before taking her out and take it off after getting back in, i don't usually have my phone on me for that. I'll try to take a picture.
