Assault weapons are not necessary for personal protection and should be banned for public safety reasons. Weapons designed to maximize casualties should be banned and only used by the military and law enforcement.

No. I am ok with guns owned by responsibole non-criminals, if they are kept locked up at home, separate from the ammo, like the Swiss do. What I am against is carrying them around like an idiot, and irresponsible people having them.

Having restrictive gun laws in a state doesn't make a difference when there's no border control between states. You can just drive over from a state with laxer gun laws.
