With success of 6 more new Satellites up and moving in2 orbit (takes up to 3 months) I am back to fixing the old n dying ones. Lots of summer fun in full planning stages. Off to Vegas for Defcon late next week for maybe 5 days or 6 IF I get use of office at Qualcomm there for use of UNIX but they first have to agree to a ISDN hookup they normally do not use but should and maybe I can force the issue.
Still bothers me that my Satellite system uses a private network free of abuse from hackers YET power grid for some odd reason is on the HACK-ABLE Pubic Network. ISDN is old and slow but it does the job for simple communications for the very very high level stuff only.
Was supposed 2 do a super Beer festival last while at Comic Con but fest got canceled do 2 very poor management yet with great intentions. Ended up drinking more fancy Single Malts and Bourbons instead.

Only if one has someone on the inside of the Co-lo and I know because as a kiddlet I got someone to put in a patch cord for me to play with a very very old part of Pac Bells system. It must be a hard wired connect in order 2 mess with the system.
As far as eye know no one has actually hacked the hardware. The software of course could be messed with but only from someone on the inside of the over all system.
I should point out there are multiple ISDN lines synch channel added to the regular synch required and its a private network always alive. Normal ISDN packet systems are NOT alive 24/7. Also there are two distinct paths in case a cable is broken which is kinda common in Telco with Streets being paved or even Earthquakes or water main bursts. Digging is the most common failure of Fiber/Copper lines anyway.
Cable systems are done on cheep are are far more pron to failure re built on cheep and most systems even have Fiber above the pavement as in boxes on lawns lol.
The Military uses its own unique Telco connect which still does signalling in band instead of SS-7 system. Hacking ISDN means one wood have to also hack the SS-7 and that is something that is so rare as to read that it has been done but never on both paths at the same tyme.
At one hacking conference I attended someone claimed to have pulled it off. No record on file but again if one had someone on the Inside of both paths and that's like act of terrorism, I really doubt it has been pulled off. Maybe by Telco security for the fun of it? 2 people with the clearance required in two independent cities???? AND at the same tyme and what wood b the gain???
All Cell systems use the SS-7 Exactly the same way ordinary Telco dial up uses it.
