Only when I was younger though. I think my parents figured out pretty quick that disappointment and disapproval were more effective at curbing problem behaviors. It turns out it's really easy to emotionally leverage a kid who looks up you as the most important people in the world. Until they become a teenager at least, then you have to get creative.
