There is actually a similarity in a sense for where he lives and San Diego. If one goes beyond the city/county limits to the East, then it's very much like the Antelope Valley. I suspect long ago the Antelopes were Bar-B-Qued out of existence.
Cost of land is super low outside the "Populace" and super ugly unless you're a fan of tumbleweeds and sand blasting windstorms.
What is wack for Cathy is the very limited places for an education. I went to Anza Borrego last weekend just to see the flowers and there were no flowers. People who live in the desert are insane

That is the closest university to us. It’s not that long of a drive.
