What linux distro would go best on this setup:
3GB RAM, P6000 @ 1.87Ghz (its a crippled crappy low end intel processor), Intel HD Graphics.
I want something highly customisable, but very user friendly, seing as I am a very lazy person. I don't want a crude looking desktop, but I don't want it to be KDE. KDE tries too hard. And not the new Gnome that Fedora 15 uses. That looks like shit.

Ubuntu 11 with the GNOME classic interface runs quite decent on my 1.5 GHz Core with integrated 9500 GMA and 3 GB RAM.

Too much trouble for the reward. When I finially do have everything set up as I like, it seems too... fat for me. I forgot to mention my hard disk is only 60GB.

Unity boggs down every system I have used it on, even faster more modern ones.

Actually, installing GNOME 3 over Unity makes it much better than 10.10.

I suggest you go with Linux From Scratch if you want to get the best OS for your build. If you don't want to go through with the trouble, then try Xubuntu.

Why is that? Ubuntu does that shit don't they? Their product is really a beta and the final stable version is always one or two behind the latest. I wonder if that is part of an intentional strategy.
