The appropriate response is for them to tell you to suck a dick. Getting angry is, like, not the worst response but it's kind of low-tier.
Someone says you are "Very racist." How do you respond?
"Oh god I am SO SORRY ?" (mocking) - top tier
"You're the REAL racist because..."/"I'm not a racist because..." (ie defensive, trying to debate it) - gay tier
"Oh god I am SO SORRY ?" (sincere) - shit tier
It's not actually about being racist or not, or trying to prove your not racist. It's a power game, pure and simple. It's like the other person is trying to claim the moral high ground. If someone calls you a racist in bad faith and you mock them, it nullifies it. It signals you're not going to play their game. Getting angry is buying into the power play and you shouldn't do it because the game is rigged. You can't win so just don't play.
Now if someone you have a good rapport with, a good relationship with, someone you know is arguing in good faith, says a position you hold is racist, you can have a serious conversation about whether it is racist. But a troll on the internet? Nah.
