Thorton Burgess wrote many books of tales of these creatures from 1905 to 1965. One character, Happy Jack, was also enlisted in the war effort, encouraging people to buy War Savings Stamps & Bonds. For whatever reason, the Disney Company never got their mitts on his characters. Instead, a Japanese company made an animated program 山ねずみロッキーチャック in 1973.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I6FdqM-jLQ
