What kind of wines would qualify? The recipe suggests Cabernet Sauvignon, which is a kind I hate. So I was hoping for something else.

Pinot Noir? Malbec? Sirah?

This is for a pasta sauce.

Malbec wine offers a great alternative to higher priced Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

Tomato sauce? Since tomatoes are highly acidic, you want a red wine with low acid. Try a Merlot, Malbec, or Syrah.

Yes, a tomato-based pasta sauce. Thanks, I am a big fan of Malbec and Syrah.

I had a Sangiovese and it wasn't a good combination when I tried this recipe before. I see that the acidity was probably an issue.
