Actually many many do. When just by chance in a visit with my Bank o America Manager many years ago. I mentioned my need to come up with some anon way to fund my daughters UC Cal Berkeley BS degree (6 Years as required by Harvard Med) and she made a quick phone call and told me the Bank was going to send me to San Francisco offices on their expense. Two full large building office floors dedicated to people such as me. Many actors and actress. Single women who needed to give the child away and a wide range of reasons people have the need to contribute in one way or the other. Of course no names reveled but examples given.
Cost for me turned out to be nothing - Bank makes money on holding funds what of course give me no interest and they using their internal ownership of Merrill Lynch, invest the money for lots of profit using my money. Not just bankers on those floors. Tax experts and attorneys. Twice they have created a fancy name as Grants and Benefactors/Scholarships. There are many examples you can find on the web of situations such as mine but with famous people who wanted to remain Anon but were found out. Some said Yes I did that and others never wood admit to the deed.

Not exactly accurate but close nuff - 6 years for her BS degree. 5 years at Harvard Med for her MD - Three years now as a resident/intern at Mass General hospital. However because they pay a small salary she now requires less $$ of mine. I actually have no clue how many more years of this resident/intern situation but it can go on for years and so far B o A is unable to determine her plan but it can be MORE years but that is not really an issue for me.
The house I bought her in Cambridge had pipe break issues which caused MOLD up the ying yang but insurance/escrow took care of a large portion of but I got stuck covering a very expensive one year lease on a place near by during the rebuild process and that was Eight years ago and guess what - Yep Mold was NOT totally removed so for the last many months again she is living on my rent/lease money while the house is again going on with very expensive rebuild and this time I am mostly stuck with costs EXCEPT bank attorneys tell me there is a good chance that with a couple years in court the insurance company may be held somewhat liable Perhaps.
I in NO WAY am whining - Harvard Med took a huge amount of my Qualcomm and Google Stock as collateral at the price it was worth wayyyyy back when and they allow me to buy it back at cost at the time it was valued and hot damn today it's worth of course massive $$$$ more - However I have to WORK to fund the re-buy and sure could get a loan and totally come out over the top quickly but my Jewish/Catholic upbringing does NOT allow me to go in2 debt - But any day I just may do some of that. Like I hate buying Stocks on the Short but on occasion I see no other choice YET it's not exactly how I like doing business. Buying on the basis of something failing just irks my very nature.
Time to shave and boogie to what should be a quality presentation by me today - I have rehearsed this with slide presentation and their are multiple Lab models for people to play with such that those models will keep a crew of engineers and Science types busy for a few months if my math is spot on - IF not well then the company will just have to pay me again to do more better if necessary.
