Topic: we really ought not rush to embrace the germ theory of disease

Sheila LaBoof started this discussion 6 years ago #95,948

Have we adequately ruled out malarial miasms, mephitic effluvia, crowd poisoning, sewer emanations, and poisonous fungi in the atmosphere? This is already a long list, but no doubt could be longer. Listen, some healthy skepticism should never be unwelcome, and we really ought to hold off on expensive so-called solutions and meddlesome regulatory interference in dealing with these supposed germs. Why are we so ready to compromise our way of life on mere speculation?

Much of the planet says no to Tuberculosis. However countries like China just consider it to much of a bother to solve this problem.
Shocks me that they do get upset if their chickens pass on bugs to humans. Go figure.

It's really just a theory, and science has been wrong so many times before.

We should at least give equal voice to other theories and ideas like divine retribution or the psychosomatic effects of emotional problems or moral failings in the individual. Those ideas have been around for much longer and haven't been conclusively disproven yet. We really shouldn't start thinking we can play God about things on scant evidence that is pushed by doctors and big pharma who stand to profit from these fake "theories" about germs.

Zillions of people are bitten by the Mosquito that carries Malaria or Dengue. No amount of anything other than medical treatment will help.
Of course one could simply light a candle and ask Jesus to cure. Like when the plane was flying in to the world trade centers and people looked up and prayed.

Seems Jesus and God were playing a card game in heaven and could not give a fuck.

Mosquitos could be a plot by Satan to mislead us, much like he buried all those dinosaur bones and radioactive elements to make the Earth appear much older than it is.

We shouldn't believe what looks like obvious evidence of real events until we can be certain that all that "evidence" isn't just fake stuff that was put there to make us disbelieve our preconceptions about long-held unprovable stories our ancestors came up with thousands of years ago. That would be silly, right?

Satan? Are you still Jacking off to Jesus. When you cum do you say praise Jesus.

And you must be one of those Trump voters. Trump who failed science in school and decided that climate change was just fake news.

As I sees it - back when they were burning witches, you of course said torch me because Jesus will put the fire out.
