I am So fucking OVERWORKED as it is and it's my company cause that is the way most consultants play the game. I do employ two women (not counting those hired to clean up this house){I make sure they are paid more than minimum wage}
The gals I employ are editors One with technical expertise albeit not as Electronic Engineer but as Editor for the most best New York Publisher of Technical type large selling material - She gets paid ultra well or otherwise she has no spare time for me - The other is just great at cleaning up my presentation materials and currently is super over loaded with teaching material which means she and the Tech Editor end up working 2Gether
AND as to being a part of the solution - Over my many decades as Engineer with some very fancy Titles - I have made damn well sure the women employed in Departments I managed or Company wide I managed were TREATED Even More Better than 99.9% of Other Places Except I fully admit to not running surveys to verify such.
The very very smartest and most valuable employees I have managed were WOMEN - With the exception of back when I was a Newbie new UCLA Grad working for Hughes Malibu Research Labs - There I met just Men and only one working Female Engineer - Met several Dude Engineers who were beyond BRILLIANT - Such that in no way could I ever match their Brilliance - They were the best the USA and even other countries could hire - One was born in Palestine and became a close Mountain Climbing buddy - He was the Senior Scientist for Hughes in total.
So like that was very early 60's of last Century - Now far more women but when one walks the halls of the 36 local Qualcomm buildings and say Qualcomm in Israel - VERY VERY Few women are working Engineers. I have NO Clue how their salary stakes up because I have never had a reason to lookin2
AND with this stream of contagious Continuous - The Moral Necessity of any company is to employee People who will contribute in general as a Working Team where the Whole ends up being More Greater than the Sum of its parts.
You need people who are SMARTER Than those who manage them - You need people who have weaknesses that are covered by other employees and they intern have skills others do not have yet have their own weak areas. What they get paid MUST end up as just a fraction of the over all income of the company.
What works best in my opinion is the BONUS System and THANK The Gods of Working Companies for STOCK OPTIONS - As a Newbie to Stock Options I had no clue what they were and never gave them a 2nd thought until I watched Qualcomm working regular ordinary Engineers buying Lamborghini and similar overpriced sport cars like crazy - Most were Pakistanis and Indians and of course Chinese on H1B Visas - Stock Options were making Millionairs out of just regular working engineers and got local TV channels to send in News Vans to show the unique parking lots of Qualcomm.
ME? Just let that Paper Pile Up - AND Google Founders Stock Options I got for doing a silly small favor as directed by my managers to help that start up company and I said - Who needs another Search Engine - Damn how wrong could I B
Women have not so much been treated so well at Google - Exceptions of course with one gal I No making Mega Millions as result. She ended up taking a buy out when AT&T bought the company she was running and funny how their search Engine may not even exist anymore as I have not looked 2C -
O and thanks for the question cause frankly their are gals I Surf my Ocean Blue with ever AM who are far far More better than I will ever B AND Most get super paid High $$$ in the local Biotech business. One works for the largest Gene slicing Bio in this Hood and she is a Swing Dancer blue eyed blonde as well and has Executive titles and Executive stock option to her bank account - Given it's a pubic company one can even look up her Salary and fringe Benefits and STOCK Options - With all that she drives a car that costs around $60K and it like my car is a couple years old now.
Then again the Founder of Qualcomm also drives an ordinary car and it's long on the tooth as well. He still lives in the same house he had back when he was just an ordinary local University Professor - 3 Beds 2 Bath's and My house has a far far better Ocean a Blue View than his and I have more bathrooms n Bedrooms - Weird -
Values - Money? Say I need more more cause well I am rebuilding a house I bought in Cambridge Mass 8 years ago and getting rid of Fungus Among US is Costly as all Fuck.
