Just for the record, it works fine under wine.

1. Download the installer.
2. wine msiexec /i <INSTALLER FILE>
3. wine '/home/USERNAME/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Ace of Spades/client.exe' -aos://#######

If your wine doesn't have msiexec, you have an ancient version and need to update. More detail available here.
