The thing I've noticed is that while Matt can generally go toe-to-toe with Bert and hold his own, he's generally sorely outmatched when he tries to take on Meta.

In terms of my advice for this, I think your issue is that you're getting too emotional. Just look at this topic. You've gotten all indignant at Meta and trying to draw him into debate, but he doesn't give a shit. He's just laughing it off. The same thing happens when you call him fat. He doesn't give a shit. Meanwhile, he knows about 20 different ways to push your mad buttons.
You need to find better insults and stop being so easy for Meta to take apart. Otherwise you will just keep losing to him.

There isn't going to be some grand, intellectual showdown where you pick apart his political beliefs and humiliate him, OP. You keep trying to have that fight, he simply doesn't play along and instead flippantly mocks you, making you look like the mora.
What you need to get better at is insults. Banter. Stop trying to drag Meta onto your battlefield and get good at fighting him on his. That's the only way you're going to turn things around.
