Topic: Are you concerned about discrimination against Asians?

Anonymous A started this discussion 6 years ago #95,205

Discrimination against Asians is far more accepted than any other kind. The Harvard decision was a really bad one that relied on "expert" opinions stereotyping Asians as less creative and with worse personalities than other races. (The main expert defending Harvard is the president-elect of the American Economic Association.) The Supreme Court really only mentioned that putting Japs in camps was bad in 2018. Also, half-Asian dudes are really really mad about shit.

All that said, Asians are kind of annoying

I don't understand -- Asia has dozens of identifiabley different kinds of people in it. Or is the word "asians" being used in a weasley way to avoid saying chinky looking?

Probably because East Asians are the highest IQ, highest income, highest achieving demographic in the US. So discrimination against them is "punching up" even though they are nominally PoC. If admissions were meritocratic and based on test scores Harvard would be like 90% Asian.

My own preference would be for elite universities to have race quotas and admit students proportionally so if 18 year olds in America are 60% white, 20% Hispanic, 13% black, etc (these aren't the real numbers I just made them up) then admissions to Harvard will be 60% white, 20% Hispanic, 13% black, etc. Then there won't be any squabbling over too much or not enough of X demographic in Harvard.

There should be affirmative action for Asians getting into prison, to balance out the population inadequacies.
