Topic: an anachronism thread

Sheila LaBoof started this discussion 6 years ago #95,091

This thread is inspired by a grinding gears thread where writers have archers "fire" their arrows.

People still say "tape" and "rewind" in reference to video content. That annoys me to no end.

I think they still sell them at Radio Shack, but I haven't been in a radio shack in a couple years at this point. They had them last time I went.

reminds me, I want to by CDs by some people I like, but these fucking companies think that cassette tapes are the hot thing right now so I just listen to shit on youtube

I doubt cassettes and 8-track will ever make a come back.

Besides audiophiles, and people with old cars, who the fuck even has a tape deck anymore?

Sheila LaBoof (OP) replied with this 6 years ago, 2 minutes later, 3 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,074,249

reminds me of another thing -- book companies that put audio books out on 9CD box sets. If you're going to put a book on optical media at all, at least be courteous and put the same audio quality stuff on one fucking DVD or Blu-Ray disc instead; more people have a thing that can play those than a CD-only machine these days anyway

Do people still put audiobooks on CD? The only CD audio book I've seen was a big ass set my dad had, with every LOTR book. That was produced in the 80's, tho.

oh a movie example: in the Christmas Movie, the mother has a poodle hair style that looks 1980s but the story is supposed to be 1940s. Come to think of it, any movie from 1960s-80s that takes place in history or in future, and every chick has stupid hair and makeup that let you figure out when the movie was made.

You're talking about A Christmas Story? I usually place a film's production time based on cinematography.
