Topic: Know of any good software for making beats I can pirate?

I've been getting a fair amount of solo shows lately, and I think it's time to step my livetronica game up a bit. I have no idea where to start, but I want something that I can make nasty, hard hitting beats with and operate fairly dynamically. I'm going for a sound kind of like Rusko with less dubstep and moar live instruments. Any suggestions?

Ableton, logic, Reason, and Fruity Loops.
Make sure you get some awesome plug ins as well.

I've looked for Ableton on demonoid already and can't find it, but I here that program is the shit. Downloading FL studio 9 right now, and the torrent has a lot of good plugins. Never hear of logic or reason, but will look into both. I have a feeling that this will take a while to learn.

Ableton is difficult but if you're a dab hand of self tutorial then you'll pick it up.
Also, buy yourself a keyboard that you can program sounds to, it helps. Makes for a less monotonous way of piano beats and riffs.
You NEED a decent pair of monitor speakers as your project will sound a lot different if you're using stock computer speakers.
Also, samples are your friends. Youtube however, is crap for quality :/
Get a Soundcloud account and joins lots of groups so you can get a lot of producer feedback.

This, but I personally rely on the sequencer note by note and it works fine.

Samples are cool, but Drum Rack comes with decent drum samples. Also, learning to program Analog, and not getting lazy with synth samples is also good.

Had KRK Rokit 5's for a while. Were fun but since I live close to my neighbors I took it easy. They could get pretty loud... Used them once in place of PA speakers when I was
DJ'ing for a friend. Not enough, but okay.

PA speakers are a bit meh when you're doing music production. I dunno, guess I'm being anal retentive, but there's something different bout them.

Planning on making livetronica. I mostly just do instrumental looping ATM but am looking to add some heavy beats and synths. I'd like to do hard hitting dance music in an entirely live way.
