I also find it crazy that the magnetic poles reverse whenever they feel like it.

Becky, I have bad news for you about the universe. It's decaying. It's full of really hot, energetic pockets of stuff that are constantly flinging massive amounts of matter and energy out into other parts of the universe that are basically full of nothing. This isn't sustainable forever.
We do live in a really fun time though! We can, right now, take advantage of matter and energy moving from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration. Our Sun is part of it. Our planet is part of it. We're hanging on to our little rock like single-celled organisms crowding around the heat from a volcanic vent in the sea floor.

I think human tecnology can stop it. You can make a magnetic field right now just by rapping some coil around a magnet. So surely in a billion years they'll have super magnets that could keep the earth together.

No. I don't think the universe cares about sex, gay or otherwise. You should certainly enjoy your time here while it lasts though. Maybe come up with some good ideas and pursue them. Maybe write them down in stone for future things to pursue.
We live in an energy rich time. It's kind of fun to think about the eons that will elapse during heat death where the most interesting thing to have happened in billions of years will be the emission of energy from one piece of matter being absorbed by another. Literally. Within the entire universe. There will be a time when a few particles giving off energy will be the only significant event defining an age longer than the history of our planet.
It's kind of an odd feeling knowing that all the energy you spend doing things as simple as answering your phone or tying your shoe will one day be precious. Did you know that the words of Lafayette Ronald Hubbard are preserved on cylindrical metallic records coated in zinc and loaded into crank operated record players? If our civilization dies out tomorrow, future human or alien anthropologists may remember us by his words after hundreds of thousands of years. Kind of an odd feeling mentally running the clock forward and thinking about your complete lack of relevance.
By all means though. Rub yourself against other things if it makes you think happy thoughts. Try to find other things that want to rubbed against. It's more fun that way. It won't matter in the end.

It's incredibly unlikely. We've only been a species for 200 thousand years. That's .2% of the way. To assume we will make it the other 99.8% is at least arrogant if not wildly retarded
