7 days of antibiotics. I feel much better, but still get the occasional hacking coughing fit which sounds and feels as if I am dying.

Well, I feel better overall. I can breathe a little better, but still when I breathe deeply, the cool air hits a "raw" spot in my throat and I cough. I am less tired yes.

No. I feel that smoke of any sort in the lungs is a very bad idea for a lung infection. Also, it is illegal.

Not really. I do hack up the occasional dense phlegmball, but not often. I cough, but not much comes out.
