Syntax has been told to stop mentioning family members so he was pushing his luck by mentioning Matt's Chinese wife/girlfriend/whatever she was, and implying he got his scat fetish from his family. On that basis, I think a ban is justified. Maybe 5 days is a little harsh, but it's not the first time he's done this either.
Having said that, I want to be careful about "siding" with Matt too much. Syntax's usual issue is that he spams that stuff in unrelated topics, which I think is fine to ban for. But I wouldn't want to take action against him or anyone else purely for insulting Matt, or referencing some detail that Matt himself ultimately made public.

I get the point you've been making here but to be honest you're approaching it from the wrong point of view. No, the "alleged spouse" doesn't read Minichan, so you could argue there's no harm done. But using the same logic, deceased relatives also don't read Minichan, yet we all agree Syntax is out of line when he brings up people's dead fathers and mothers.
The issue here is how uncomfortable Syntax makes people feel when he constantly brings up details of people's personal lives that he's dug up on the internet. It's not about the people who don't use Minichan, it's about the people who do.
