I tend to think we collect sensations and turn them into complex, abstract meaning - not the other way around.
There are certain physical sensations associated with being male, but I don't think the relationship works the other way. Dogs, squid, eyelash mites, and willow trees can all be male, but I don't think there is a common physical sensation between all those species that they could claim to have in common. I can't really say for sure, never having been a squid or a willow tree myself. I guess there are specific physical sensations that come with having a body that developed as a male. I would hesitate to say that those sensations are synonymous with "being male" though as they change over the course of your life with your development and age.
There is also a whole sociocultural soup of meaning that comes with what "being male" might mean in terms of defining one's own identity or relation to other people or things in the world that is purely social or philosophical and has nothing to do with physical sensation. In this sense "being male" is more than a physical sensation. Maybe there are some constrained conditions where it might make sense to consider being male a physical sensation, but I'm not sure what those might be. I've never had the experience of not being male, so I don't have a good basis for comparison.
tl;dr: I refuse to define abstract concepts by discrete physical experiences.
