I'm not really into dipping things in drinks. I think ice cubes are perfectly acceptable things to put into drinks. Olives and wedges of citrus fruit are acceptable on some occasions too.
Bread products tend to leave crumbs behind that float around looking suspicious. It always weirds me out.

Where I come from we call it dunk. My favorite items to dunk in my coffee are...the little chocolate covered Hostess doughnuts and Almond windmill cookies.

During summer time and often in Dec-Feb where the weather is ideal for Iced Coffee - I make Ice cubes out of coffee in order to not dilute the beverage.
Once at a party the host served a rather great Scotch and proceeded to offer Fig Newtons for dipping and separate glasses so as to not mess of the primary dipping glass with crumbs of the Newton.
Was tasty but at home I have never repeated such
