I know right? Seriously, why don't people care? The first words out of anyone's mouth after hearing someone molested a child is something involving the brutal murder of the molester.
People just accept that the catholic church aided child molesters. They are directly responsible for thousands of children being raped. Thousands. That's ridiculous. The catholic church is hierarchal. The priests dont get moved around without reason. The Vatican has provided documents that implicate themselves.
It blows my mind. If you need a reason on the harms of religion, this is it.
Philadelphia's archdiocese is going through an upheaval because of abuse. The archbishop retired and the new archbishop has a history of bullying absence victims and covering up offenses. He is very political though. No one cares, though.

Because people see it as a joke. People are used to the fact that religion can't be wrong and is to be respected. They are raised to think that. There is an overwhelming amount of catholics and people like to think on the brighter side of things. They see priests molesting 'boys' as a joke now. Why? Because it's funny–as a joke–but it's really just a reality that people don't like to admit. It is too bad.
