Topic: ColecoVision-compatible console beats iffy Atari and Intellivision branded projects to completion

Yes, as I described in threads concerning Atari and Intellivision, http://minichan.org/topic/85508 http://minichan.org/topic/85666
attempts have been underway to release new consoles bearing those classic brand names. There had been a similar project involving the Coleco name, but that was apparently some kind of bullshit that never happened.
However, a group of enthusiasts who have had years of experience making and selling entirely new ColecoVision games have beaten the Atari and Intellivision things to the punch. They did so by entirely avoiding using the Coleco brand, instead using their company name, CollectorVision. Always a work of love over money, they first waited for enough people to pre-order before making just enough to economically make and sell the devices. The first run is completely sold. A second run may come if enough pre-orders come in again.
The CollectorVision console does not simply run a software emulator, but using something called Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), "a programmable chip that can recreate digital circuits in hardware". The result is a machine that faithfully plays original ColecoVision cartridges and games stored on a SD card. While no controllers come with it, it accepts original controllers and Super Nintendo controllers. The principal customer for the machine would be someone who probably has or had the original ColecoVision, but would like a device of better build quality and outputs to modern television sets with HDMI. The original 1980s console had power switch crap that easily went bad, and the power supply was a fat god damn brick.
The hardware accepts new "cores" as they are developed, to play other early systems' games stored on SD card.

I would like it if the re-released retro consoles had competing advertising. Like Sega was bragging about how the Genesis Mini had better emulation or more games than the Nintendo SNES Mini Classic. If the console rivalries were reborn with the mini consoles and the new Coleco console was trashing Atari and vice-versa.
