And boy is my 747 out of fuel! Can anyone front me $11,000 to fill it up?

It is not even remotely legal to borrow a passenger's credit card to pay our fuel bill, and any member of staff 'accepting' such an offer from a delusional passenger will be fired on the spot, because this is simply and obviously not how major airlines and international airports operate.

My close personal friend Barry Goldwater has my permission to use and refuel the spruce goose for all international secret agent missions he is currently working on.

I love the idea of a 747 worth of kerosene being paid for with a credit card lol

And I love the idea that rather than contact literally any member of the airline's ground staff, as is protocol for ANY issue regarding the condition and status of an aircraft, the pilot of a 747 borrowed a passenger's credit card to pay the plane's fuel bill because his own was maxed out.

I said elsewhere, this one is by far my favorite Syntax tall tale (and dear lord there have been a lot).

Mr. Goldstein, you've saved us! Where our trained staff, standard airline protocols, and money have failed, your credit card has prevailed!

Please have some money and free tickets on us.

No need for money, just hand me a check when I disembark. That's totally how major airlines recompense passengers who spontaneously foot a 747's $11,000 transatlantic fuel bill.

Rest assured friends, with a quick swipe of my credit card and a nudge and wink from the captain, Malaysian Flight 370 has been refueled and is ready to go!

Could everybody please keep this incident quiet? If the media ever found out that a 747 pilot had to borrow a passenger's credit card to pay our fuel bill as we were waiting on the tarmac for takeoff (because major airlines and international airports operate a pay-as-you-go deal and our pilots and crew often forget to check they have fuel before taxiing out), it would be the biggest PR catastrophe in aviation history. It would probably make the front pages of every newspaper and be archived on the internet for anyone to quickly look up.

That's why we have a set of legally-binding protocols to make sure that such an incident is literally an impossibility.

Legend has it that Mr.Goldstein also paid to have Amelia Earhart's plane refuled before she disappeared.
