Aeiou. So, this thread was reported. And with 9 threads regarding Syntax currently on the front page (excluding fake anon's), I can sort of see why!I'm not going to do anything right now, since the UID thing is a current event and actually pretty funny.

I can corroborate it, your IP really is associated with 310 UIDs. I'm not really sure how that's possible even if you do maintain multiple UIDs (which is allowed), but apparently it is.

That was an rather odd edit you made of what I said. Where did I say I don't create multiple accounts? I do. I could in theory create 50 new Trip codes and under your define of UID each of them are New Accounts and of course they are - Or I could type in my handle and make it different each time I post and there are people that do exactly that.

So now you're acting like you don't know what a Minichan UID is, throwing out all of these random descriptions of tripcodes and posting with a hyperlinked name being different UIDs.
Look at this picture. This is how you sign into a UID. Minichan UIDs are just "user profiles" that let you have a consistent identity across the site, for the purposes of people citing your posts or your posting statistics. If I posted anonymously in a thread as Anonymous B, that's one UID. If I then made a new UID and posted anonymously in the same thread, I would be Anonymous C. I could then log in to the original UID and be Anonymous B again.
...But I suspect you know this, because previously some of your UIDs have been consistent. It wasn't just you making new ones constantly, you kept using some of them over longer periods. And to do that you must have gone through the page I screenshotted.

Sorry, are you asking me how MC's UIDs are generated? If the method hasn't changed (and I very much doubt it has) then I assume it's still via the PHP function uniqid, more precisely this line of code:
The first parameter is a prefix to add to the UID (in this case it's none), and the second means "add additional entropy (using the combined linear congruential generator) at the end of the return value, which increases the likelihood that the result will be unique."
As far as I know the algorithm is based on the system timestamp in microseconds.

It'd be impossible to tell, pretty much. You have a dynamic IP (it changes) versus Syntax and Bert's static IPs. So there's no easy way of getting that stat, for you.

Well, that makes sense, I suppsose. You are right that he never comes back to UIDs once he's stopped using them, which you'd expect if he was actually creating usernames and passwords for them.
So if this is just a byproduct of him having a static IP and not actually keeping UIDs, then his 310 UIDs stat isn't actually strange or deliberate.
