I was downloading an album on my laptop when it was time to go to class, so I closed the lid and walked to school (I live right by the uni). When I got to class and opened it up, I never bothered to shut utorrent off. Now my Uni sent me an e-mail describing how piracy is srs bzns and how it was a violation of the student code of conduct (which they make all students sign). What a bunch of pussy ass faggots, expecting me to pay for music.

Just download some indie shit (without using your torrent app) just in case they *do* do something, then you can just claim it was the indie thing you were downloading.
Also, use a proxy next time you want to use a torrent, so you don't have to use the school's.

I think it an be an art, but definitely not the same type of art. There's not much programmers out there that I would consider to be an artist with their coding.

Publishers are the only ones truly worried about piracy, because it can potentially create a platform for artists to freely distribute music created from themselves instead of the mass-produced garbage from the music "industry". Same thing with video games.

That already exists and it only works for artist who are already huge. I think its because thats how the recording industry makes its money. Artists have usually made their money touring. I dont know how much their label takes from that, but I guess not much.
Of course, greedy is as greedy does.
