Topic: The nice thing about older Fords...

Externally hosted imageIs that each Ford develops its own unique set of creaks, rattles, and clunking sounds as it ages. It's like each bird has its own unique song, so too does every clapped out Ford have its own unique symphony of machinery gradually tearing itself apart.

Like mine for example, it has a very distinct whine from the power steering pump and creaking from the suspension bushings being shot. There's a lot of belt squeaking when its cold. When it's hot and the car's been sitting for a while, it will run really badly and kind of sputter and try to stall for a bit, then it clears out. It also occasionally makes a chirping sound that I have been unable to figure out for the past ten years.

These cars have personality. They have soul. They never really die, they just keep getting noisier and leakier and smokier. They will tolerate heroic amounts of abuse and neglect and just keep on going. You just don't get that on a Toyota.

That is because a Toyota always runs perfectly (assuming regular maintance)
